Avoiding Common Machine Safeguarding Pitfalls - An Overview of Selecting and Installing Machine and Process Safeguards
Join us for a two-hour audio conference on machine safeguarding. The conference will look at the importance of conducting a risk assessment in order to create a proper guarding solution that allows for safety (compliance with the applicable standards) and productivity. This includes risk reduction strategies based on the hierarchy of controls that point to the proper interface, use, and installation of guards and safety devices.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify how to conduct a risk assessment.
- Recognize which guarding technique to use based on the information gained from the risk assessment.
- List the types of safety control interfaces to use based on the information gained from the risk assessment.
- Define proper installation of safeguarding devices.

Chris Soranno is a Machine & Process Safety Engineer as well as Assessment & Proposal Coordinator for STI Machine Services, Inc. ( Anaheim , CA ). Chris is located in Cleveland , OH and has been with STI Machine Services for four years. Before accepting this position he was a product and marketing manager for an industrial safety integrator and distributor. Mr. Soranno is also an active member of more than a dozen various consensus safety standards.
