Accidents, Drug Testing & Workers Comp: How to Improve Safety, Avoid Lawsuits and Control Costs

Here's an amazing statistic: 50% of workers comp claims are abandoned when employees are confronted with a drug test. That tells us a few things: 1) Drug use on the job is more common than we like to think, 2) Too many workplace injuries can be attributed to substance use, and 3) Safety professionals have a huge opportunity to reduce injuries and cut workers comp costs by establishing a post-accident drug testing policy.

But the questions surrounding workplace drug testing are many. What federal regulations do I need to worry about? Are my state regulations different? How do we set up a legally sound policy? Who can I test and how often? Who should actually do the testing and reporting?

This audio conference/webinar will answer those questions and more. Our speaker, William Judge, JD, LL.M. from the Center for Drug Testing Information, will give you step-by-step guidance on developing, implementing and documenting a drug testing plan that will reduce injuries and reduce workers comp costs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the three major mistakes companies make when interpreting drug testing rules.
  • Learn surprising statistics about which workers are most likely to use drugs and alcohol on the job.
  • Discover how much money companies can save with drug testing.
  • Find out what your drug testing policy MUST include.
  • Understand how to find qualified service providers to handle collection, lab work and medical review.
  • Learn what it means if a state is voluntary, mandatory, required, open or hybrid in regards to drug testing.
