Survive Downsizing: Learn How to Keep Your Job and Become Indispensable to Your Company

In turbulent economic times, when employees are fearful for their jobs, and when talented individuals have found themselves out of work due to organizational restructuring, downsizing and outsourcing, understanding the skills required to be an organization survivor has become critical. It is increasingly important to be seen as a key contributor in 21st century corporations-organizations which are more horizontally-structured and team-based-where interpersonal relationship management, system understanding and problem-solving expertise all count. This program presents a clear, dynamic model for organization survival and success. Not simply the musings of experienced consultants, nor a simple list of "success skills" covering the same tired concepts, this model is drawn from surveys conducted in massive Fortune 100 companies as well as small, entrepreneurial start-ups. The model is built from the real-life experiences of those in a unique position to know: actual survivors of organizational resizing and the hiring managers who selected them.

Would you like to know the specific skills required to survive downsizing and how to acquire those skills? Would you like to be considered a key contributor in your organization and as one indispensable to the company? Would you like to develop real emergent-leadership skills regardless of your position in the company? This program will show you how.

Target Audience:

For those employees worried about their jobs in a period of downsizing... this program will provide the tools to increase your chances for survival and make you indispensable to your company?

For those who have lost their jobs through downsizing... our survey work with managers who have chosen the best-and-brightest to staff their re-sized organizations shows how to position your resume and your interview responses to highlight those "survival skills" that hiring managers are seeking. You will learn how to emphasize your skill base in a way that helps you gain a strong competitive edge in the marketplace.

For those who have landed a new job... the information provided in this program will show you how to become an "emergent leader" in your new organization, regardless of job title or position on the organization chart.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine why some individuals keep their jobs and are considered valuable company assets, while other talented individuals fall victim to downsizing.
  • Understand the two key "survival instincts" that lay the groundwork for being seen as indispensable.
  • Stock their personal toolkit with an enhanced set of four specific "survival skills".
  • Review actual skills and behaviors that can be immediately translated to their work environments.
  • Map their own unique strengths and skills against the organization survivor model and determine areas for development - positioning them at the forefront of key contributors within their organization.
  • Discover how to become emergent "Leaders" in their organization, regardless of job title or position on the organization chart.
