Don't Panic! How to Prepare Your Facility for the H1N1 Pandemic
Prevention and control of transmission of pandemics are a pressing concern for healthcare facilities currently in the US. The emergence of pandemic H1N1 (2009) has
highlighted the need to revisit pandemic preparedness plans to identify and fill identified gaps. Current interim infection prevention and control guidance from the CDC
emphasizes the hierarchy of prevention and control strategies. FacilityCare magazine is pleased to offer this timely web conference that will highlight this updated

Russell N. Olmsted, MPH, CIC is an independent Healthcare Consultant and President of Applied Epidemiology Solutions, Inc. a private consulting business. Olmsted
is also Epidemiologist with Infection prevention and Control Services, at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System headquartered in Ann Arbor, MI.
Olmsted holds a MPH in General Epidemiology from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Ann Arbor, MI. He has over 26 years experience in the field of infection
control/applied. In 2009 he received the Carole DeMille Achievement Award.
Olmsted is involved in several activities including Associate Editor of the American Journal of Infection Control, a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Hospital
Infection and member of the CDC's Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). He also is liaison from APIC to the facility guidelines institute.
