Creating an Effective Marketing Strategy for Painting Contractors

A business can survive for some time with poor records, insufficient finance or a lack of management skills, but it can't last long without a market. Something has to be done to make the phone ring - and that thing is marketing. Yet perhaps the most common problem faced by business owners is their inability to effectively sell their products. There are numerous examples of businesses that are able to make high quality products at a competitive price, but have little experience or skill in finding people who are willing to buy them. Essentially, they do not have a marketing strategy.

This audio conference explains the core concepts of a marketing strategy - identifying customer groups (target markets), which a small business can serve better than its larger competitors, and tailoring its product offerings, prices, distribution, promotional efforts and services towards that particular market segment (the marketing mix). A good strategy implies that a business cannot be all things to all people and must analyze its markets and its own capabilities so as to focus on a target market it can serve best.

The president of Advisors On Target, Linnea Blair provides business consulting and coaching to business owners and executives, who are ready to take action to become effective leaders, achieve business or career goals and enhance the quality of their lives.

Linnea developed the On Target Program for Painting Contractors in 2002 and over the last five years has worked with over 60 Residential and Small Commercial Painting Contractors to help them develop more successful painting businesses.

In addition to individual business coaching and consulting for business owners and executives in a variety of industries, Linnea provides monthly teleclasses or webinars on a variety of business topics to the public as well as her own clients. She also provides workshops at On Target conferences as well as speaking at other events including workshops at trade association conventions and events. Linnea has facilitated management retreats or strategy sessions for businesses as diverse as accounting and engineering firms to non-profits, and has presided over a two day interactive round table event for owners of spas and health resorts.

Prior to launching Advisors On Target, Linnea coordinated business consulting services at Peterson and Co, LLP in her role as Business Consulting Manager. Before joining Peterson and Co. in 1995, Linnea worked in the business sector as a manager in retail and service industries, as well as a serving as a field consultant for franchisees of a national corporation.

Linnea is a member of the International Coach Federation, as well as the. National Association of Enrolled Agents. She is a past president of the San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance, and was instrumental in growing the Alliance into an active organization for professional coaches in San Diego. Committed to making a difference in the world, Linnea is active in charitable work locally as a Red Cross volunteer, and internationally as a work team volunteer and Board Member for Many Hands Foundation.
